Sunday we woke up a little earlier than normal (for us), packed the kids into the van and took one last
trip
towards Buenos Aires to the colorful streets of La Boca. This little
street used to be a port town many yarns ago but now has developed into
a tourist attraction. It's biggest draw was the colorfully painted corrugated siding the original inhabitants had adorned to their
homes. It is also one of the places one can catch some tango in acti
on.
So we did the tourist thing
and walked through the stalls setup on the
sidewalk and did some shopping, took some pictures of Tango dancers in
the street,
and had a great time doing it. After about an hour or so of exploring
t
he streets of La Boca we ended up in front of a Tango bar. This is where I had the most fun. After visiting Gardel's tomb I really had wanted to see some tango and this place was exactly what I was looking for. It is called Caminito Tango, we sat down and ordered Parrillada (Argentine BBQ) and wine and kicked back to enjoy the show. There was a man who sang tango for the crowd and also sang tango just for our table by a special request from Pachin.
That was great but the best part for me were the tango dancers that would dance every 10 minutes or so. They were fantastic. I'm not sure what it was, maybe it was the
atmosphere of the crowd or the great company we were keeping or possible the wine that never seemed to stop flowing into my glass but man I had a great time. It was an absolute joy to take in all that Argentine culture and watch such a beautiful dance I have to admit even though I know this was a tourist trap this was one of the best days I have had in Argentina. It was a great way to end the weekend!

Sounds awesome, Tony. I'm glad you had a great time!

I like that first picture of you and Cyndie. Hey, did you learn any steps of the Tango while you were watching the dancers?

With Cyndie's permission, can you show me what you mean by that?

Great shot of you and the wife...for grins and giggles, you should have taken a picture with your postions reversed...and where's my gaucho picture?

Only in a very dark room Carla :)
It would have cost another peso. I looked for a gaucho cut out but alas there were none.
